About Debbie
So let me tell you a little bit “about” myself. You can just call me Nana…that’s what a lot of people in these parts call me. Out of all the different titles I’ve had in my life, Nana is my favorite! Of course, you can call me Debbie or Deb if you prefer to keep it a bit less personal.

I am an Army brat and spent the first 17 years of my life moving from one Army base (and school) to another…I was always the new kid! It was a bit tough not being able to make lasting friendships - I always knew that one or the other of us would move eventually - but it made me flexible and gave me a wealth of experiences from all over the world that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
I’ve worn many hats in my day, both personally and professionally. I’ve been a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and sadly in July of 2021, I became a widow. I’ve gone from working fast food to being a server, from working retail to being a Store Manager and from being an Accounting Clerk to a full-fledged Accountant. I am forever evolving and re-inventing myself.

I always admired “crafty” people but never had the self-confidence to even TRY to create some of the things I saw others do so effortlessly. Then my youngest daughter decided to get married. Oh em gee!!! When I saw how expensive wedding items were, I knew right away that it was going to have to be a DIY wedding, or she’d have to elope!! Haha
….and thus was born my obsession with all things crafty. During the past twenty years I’ve honed my skills at cake decorating, sewing, quilting, glass etching, vinyl transfer shirts, and all manner of other random, creative pursuits.

When I was FINALLY able to retire in 2019, I decided to open an online home-based business to supplement my meager retirement income and put those newly acquired skills to work…and voila! Delightfully Different was born.
A monkey wrench was thrown into my master plan when, less than six months after my retirement, I was diagnosed with stage 3 non-small cell lung cancer…have mercy! Talk about lousy timing! After a surgery to remove one lobe of my left lung, chemo, radiation, and a year of immunotherapy, I am happy to say that my cancer is in remission. Yippee for me!
I hope you will join me in this new chapter in my journey. I will always strive to ensure that I offer top quality, aesthetically pleasing products on every order.
My goal will always be to make you smile when you think of your buying experience with Delightfully Different Apparel and Décor.
